  Hanging gardens of Babylon

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon was built in the ancient city of Babylon. Even though there is no proof that they were existed, they are considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is called the Hanging Gardens because the garden was built very high above the ground on multi-level stone terraces. The root of plants was not in the ground as like a traditional garden. If it is there then it is likely the most beautiful man-made gardens ever created.

It was built during King Nebuchadnezzar II ruled Babylon from 605BC.

The gardens was about 75 feet high from the ground. The water had to have been carried up to the top of the gardens by a primitive water irrigation system.

The entrance to the Great Pyramid is on the north side, about 18 meters above ground level. In the south of the Great Pyramid temple lies in the Great Sphinx which is Carved out of limestone, the Sphinx has the clear features of a man but the body of a lion; it is approximately 73 meters long and 20 meters high.

3.Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

Modern Temple of Artemis

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, also known as the Artemesium, was built in the mid 6th century BC. It was located in Ephesus, Turkey and is said to be the seven wonders of the ancient world.

The design of the temple was not typical rectangle that was common to Greek temples of that time, but a mixture of Classic Greek and Near-Eastern design and execution. It was designed with 127 Ionic columns that are 60 feet high.

It's location was discovered in 1869, and excavations begun.
Several artifacts were excavated, and are housed today at the British Museum in London.

4.Statue of Zeus at Olympia

Statue of Zeus
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was truly a wonder to be hold. The building was designed in 450 b.C. by the Libon. Zeus's head nearly brushed the ceiling. The noted geographer Strabo once commented that if Zeus were to come to life and stand up, "he would unroof the temple."

The appearance of the statue should be imposing and impressive. He held a statue of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, in his left hand, and a staff with an eagle perched atop it in his right hand.

5.Mausaleum at Halicarnassus

Mausaleum at Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is one of the famous wonders of the ancient world, itwas built in the 350s BC. The tomb was used to buttress the fortifications of the Knights of Malta in the 1500s, causing problems for the archeologists who reconstructed the tomb from the fragments excavated in the 1850s. This paper explores the difficulties of that task and suggests an order for the sculptures set between its columns as well as the architectural design itself, showing the process by which this influential building's current structure was derived.

6.Colossus of Rhodes

Colossus of Rhodes
Colossus of Rhodes was a huge statue of the sun god Helios formerly located at the entry of a harbor on the island Rhodes in Greece. The statue, which was over 30 m high, was created by Chares of Lindos, a Greek sculptor. Constructed sometime between 292 and 280 BC, the Colossus of Rhodes was built to commemorate the victory of Rhodes over the invading Macedonians in 305 BC. At the time, Rhodes was a successful mercantile republic, controlling entry into the Aegean Sea with their large navy.

the Lighthouse of Alexandria did not survive to the present day, it undoubtedly leave an impact in many respects. The monument has been used as a model for many prototypes along the Mediterranean, as far away as Spain. And from a linguistic standpoint, it gave its name -- Pharos -- to all the lighthouses in the world !!
